I don’t know what people are talking about concerning the “Great Commission.” From what I see, the job was given to the eleven present (Mark 16:15)(Matthew 28:19-20); they were Christ’s apostles. The command was not given to everyone or the whole church (though others helped them). Paul, an after-Christ apostle, was given a different focus than the others (Acts 13:2)(1 Corinth 1:17)(Galatians 2:7). Philip, deacon & evangelist, baptized and spread the Gospel wherever he was told (Acts 8). Apostles came after him. We learn that everyone has a personal “commission.” It doesn’t look exactly like someone else’s.
We all have unique roles in the Body of Christ (Romans 12:4-8). Since the beginning of my walk, my focus has been on helping others through my gifts, in person or online. Christ can give saints global messages for his flock, and gifts can be shared with the universal (catholic) church. Everyone should desire a spiritual talent (1 Corinth 12:31). So, your “commission” involves spiritual abilities. These abilities may make way to share the Gospel, even if you’re not an evangelist (Ephesians 4:11). Some examples are Daniel, Solomon and the queen of Sheba. Christ could also give you other personal tasks, as we see with Ananias or Mary Magdalene (Acts 9)(John 20:17). Mark 16:16-18 and John 14:12-14 applies to all of us as well.
We actually have many universal commissions. Christ lovers were commanded to love your neighbor as yourself; this includes non-Christians= Leviticus 9:33-34–Luke 10. One way we do this is by sharing the Good News with others. Believers can witness in many ways, like at work, through art, or out and about. Sometimes, I do this locally and refer people to my website to get more info. No need to travel to places where there are professed Christians (Romans 15:20); it doesn’t matter if you think they’re “off” or fake (Phillipians 1:18). Even if a lone tribe hasn’t heard, the Lord control things, not man.
In the Scriptures, we see people telling their family, friends, and neighbors about the Messiah (John 4:28-29). Jesus told a man to share his testimony with those in his hometown (Luke 8:38-39). The Gospel goes out from saints wherever they are (Acts 8:4). Some believers even helped set up local gatherings in their cities, with the help of apostles to ensure everything was okay. Of course, this doesn’t mean saints can’t gather to prophesy, for prayer or communion (Acts 1:14;12:12). But, people need to be patient and self-reflective. Don’t start saying you’re a teacher or pastor if you’re not, which is clearly the case for many today.
Just remember that the Spirit and Christ are in control. Don’t usurp them (Psalm 55). Jesus adds to the Body, not man (Acts 2:47). Instead of waiting patiently for the Lord, people are creating disorder and birthing confusion. Many are out there building their own church, not Christ’s (Ephesians 2:20)(Colossians 1:23)(2 Corinthians 10:15-16)(Romans 15:20-21). You can tell because of their false gospel and antichrist structure; they also don’t know how to teach or create disciples. People are appointing themselves or others to roles Gd did not give them. You can’t buy a gift from Gd! Go to seminary all you want; it doesn’t make you an apostle, evangelist, a pastor, teacher, or prophet. Many travel the country and world in vain, like the European colonizers did (Matthew 23:15). Still, Jesus uses everything anyway (Phillipians 1:18).
We may all be apostles in the general sense, but everyone does not hold the office of apostle.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 1 Corinthians
Is this message too much for you? Time to walk away = John 6:66
